OOOOOOOHHHH YEAH! Finally, i decided to kick my rear end and do that wedge and i gotta tell you that i learned my lesson, the next time i do this, it's gonna be done with the purf-binding simultaneously, so to speak! ![]() ![]() ![]() Here is what it's gonna look like with a rosewood bridge some more of the wedge Thanks again for watching! Thanks Dave and Hesh! Dave, yes it was a pain, had to chisel it all out without scratching the EIR, the process was really slow for me. The weird part, is that this wedge comes from the same plank as the binding and rosette but didn't come out the same color as the rest! ![]() |

Cool! I like the way it changes colors as the angle varies. Sort of like good runout. Nice solution. Nothing like added work to help us think ahead for next time, huh? Steve |

That looks very good my friend! Very good indeed. I too really like the way the color changes as the angle varies. I want to try that chevron method on a future build. Very nice save Sergio! Maybe you should install them this way (after the binding) all the time? ![]() ![]() ![]() I finished binding the top of mine yesterday. Now I just have to finish shaping the neck... I'll race you to the finish! ![]() |
Probably an inside thing but what is a J. Beam crowd ? ![]() The Jim Beam bottle showing up in the "Show me your shop" thread, IIRC. I think your coffee can shows a more, uhm, sober attitude. ![]() |

Thanks folks Thanks Ron, i'm thinking about stopping posting pics untill the end so there will still be a bit of surprise left! at least in the neck and bridge design! ![]() Thanks Hesh, yeah, i've seen the tapes on the LMI site IIRC! I really loved the effect and look when Brock showed his! ![]() Thanks Steve, yes, it sure will help me plan ahead for the next build, i already know more about what i want to do on no 3 on which i'd like to have side purflings. ![]() ![]() Thanks Alain, i might make that mistake again, i kind of like the end result! ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks for the insight Carlton ![]() ![]() |
Hey Bob, nice to see you my friend, thanks for the kind words, yeah, i thought of it but had a meeting with Steve and Anthony and the consensus was to use a rosewood bridge instead. Since the fingerboard will be made out of rosewood, i think it'll make more sense, i'll be using purple heart to bind the fretbord and headstock though! Thanks! ![]() Serge |
